I have been down to Nelson's Landing...or what is left of it. A few concrete pads half covered in sand and gravel and some pipes and electrical conduit sticking out of the ground, and that is about it. Scarce evidence of the marina and community that used to exist there...It is even quite a walk down the wash to the water. I don't know if the NPS or BLM administered the site back then, but they closed the site and had what was left removed.

Willow Beach Marina on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave, about 9 miles below Hoover Dam, is situated in a wash similar to Nelson's. Rather than wait for a disaster, the park service closed down all the land based services...RV Park, Motel, Store. Last time I was there by boat about ten years ago, the only things open were a floating store on a barge, and a fuel dock, and that was it. It was like a modern ghost town. All the buildings on land were standing, including a mobile home park, but entirely vacant. It was kind or eerie.
I read the fuel dock and floating store are still open, but I don't know if the buildings have been removed...
