There is also a lot of discussion as to whether the 1913 record was accurate. The 136 degree temperature in Libya was discounted a few years back.

read another Gov post that when temp hit 134 deg that was at Furnace Creek and most likely temp at Bad Water was over 140 Deg!!

well I guess the NPS got the date backwards got this info off gov page. btw most likely hotter in Saline Valley

The 1913 record was 134, and has not been broken.

The record that was (possibly) broken on Sunday was from 1931:
