thanks David, My plan is to come in from the south to Mahogany Flat Campground for the night, having the road closed created a problem. If I can get through the closed portion all is good, otherwise I need another high campspot to get out of the heat.
Another question, my nickname is no longer relevant, I could not figure out how to change it, is that doable?

Technically, the road is closed, period. Going around the barriers, the road isn't in awful shape, and is not likely to be an issue for a competent rider. But at this time, it is closed to all vehicle traffic.

The site looks great, thanks for putting it all together.
Does anyone know if one can pass through the closed Wildrose road on a motorcycle?

I talked to Inyo Roads office in Big Pine, and was told about the same thing I heard a year and a half ago. She said that it's the county who's handling the road, but it's all one project with the Lower Wildrose Road. The park doesn't have anything to do with it, but the park donated fill dirt from the Upper Wildrose Section which helps out the county moneywise. Work was supposed to start this spring, but looks like it will be in the fall do to funding.

I have heard no estimate. The last I heard was that Inyo County was waiting for the feds to pony up some funds for repair. If I remember correctly, this flood's damage exceeded the entire repair budget for the county for the year.
