ham radio in Death Valley

I couple of months ago, there was a discussion on the use of CB radio for communication in the Death Valley area. Some people commented that they often use 2 meter ham radio for communication.
Does any know of a 2 meter (or 440) repeater that gives any coverage in Death Valley? In some places I have heard Mt. Potsi (146.88) or Table Mt.(Wrightwood 145.28), but coverage is very spotty and unreliable. I have tried to hit the repeaters on Slver Peak (Bishop), but I have never accessed them. At Texas Springs, I have heard CDF come in loud and clear on their repeater on Sliver Peak, but never anything on the ham frequencies.
Any suggestions? For the time being, I keep my radio on the national simplex (146.52) and I do occasionaly run across someone.
