Titus Cyn. and Telescope Peak Roads

Can a sedan (Ford Focus is what I have) make it to the trailhead for Telescope Peak (at Mahogany Flat) and/or down Titus Canyon Road? I've seen small cars come out of Titus Canyon without a problem, but the rangers say you absolutely need a high-clearance vehicle. Any thoughts and suggestions would really be appreciated.
