Don't buy into the scare tactics of those that would try to reserve Briggs Camp for their own selfish use. The other post with the BLM Trail Guide give precise directions to the cabin. The route is generally rocky with a few areas of clearance concern going up the alluvial fan, then narrow through the canyon entrance with a few sections of rock falls that require careful placement. There is also once climb up loose scree that presents a little traction problem, but keep it low and slow and you'll be fine. Also, the advice about getting there early; certainly before Friday afternoon, is legitimate; however, it is easier to snag during the winter months. If you get there and it is already occupied, there is another nice cabin a few hundred feet down the canyon that you could stay in. The thing about Briggs Camp that is so great is the landscaping, solar interior lighting and excellent cooking facilities. If you can get away mid-week, you'll probably get it and can depress those that follow. Go for it!
