Once a year or so a local Boy/Cub Scout troop cleans up the trash in Berdoo Canyon as well as two or three other canyons to the west with the help of the BLM and a few other agencies. This last year while cleaning up Long Canyon (canyon that houses Chuckwalla Bills old place) the Scouts discovered 5 undetonated pipe bombs that had been there a while as well as many 'Hazardous Chemicals'. During the weekend the scouts filled up many-many large dumpsters as well as removed several car remains. Two weeks later I went up the canyon and there was already numerous piles of trash and appliances laying around as well as two torched cars. Its a shame!
As for Berdoo Canyon, it has an probably will always be a desert dump for those who are either to lazy or broke to take their garbage to the dump. Body wise, one of the last times I was up in Berdoo was back in '97 just two days before a BLM ranger discovered Anthony Martinez's body covered with a pile of rocks adjacent to the road. I was up there at night, so not much was seen, but it still makes me wonder if we had pasted by his body... Creepy!
