Never had the date shake, but my friend, Robin Flinchum who is the curator of the Shoshone museum, brought me a couple of loaves of date nut bread last year which I enjoyed for breakfast when staying at the Belshaw House at Cerro Gordo. When you stop in the museum for a brochure, as Leroy mentioned, Robin would be happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you have about the area and it's history. Her speciality, of course, is the history of the women of Death Valley.
