As I understand it, there was a spring named Dirty Socks since the place was used to do the laundry.
That dust control - you'll like this....LADWP has gotten grief over their legal diversion of Owens Valley water. One of the latest issues was the fine dust from Owen's Lake bed. LADWP decided to apply water to settle the dust. They get to recapture the water that soaks in, and thus minimize overall water waste. That's how valuable the water is. And that's why I'm partial to Anheuser Busch products!
