As someone who makes a living on repairing modern computer controled vehicles fuel systems....Toyota and Ford have very few problems that leave them dead.
GM is at the top for computer and fuel pump failures, with crapsler and mitsushtsy close behind.
The main problem i have found with older vehicles off roading is the lack of altitude correction resulting i a very rich mixture/eating gas.
get a newer toyota or ford and dont worry about filling it with spare parts.
if you have a model i can tell you what extra parts to carry....
