Hi, I've been reading with interest the great advice posted on this site. I'm travelling to DV early in November. I'll seek specific advice about road conditions nearer the time, but I need to gauge my opportunities before I plan too much.

I'll be travelling on my own in a rental Chevy Blazer (or similar). While I've travelled off road in Utah's canyon regions and I'll be kitted out quite well, I need to understand if (given good conditions) I'd have problems with any of the folowing route; Trona pinnacles - Panamint valley - Emigrant pass (and higher) - Hidden Valley - Hunter Mountain - Saline Valley. Then returning to visit Cerro Gordo. With the Swansea grade, I get the feeling that it could be difficult. Could I get up to CG via the other route from the south and then just travel along the Inyo ridge to get the views of Owens Valley without descending too much of the Swansea route.

I ask these questions because all the photos posted seem to be modified (none rental road vehicles) and you're often in groups.

Sorry, lots of questions!!

One last one - how about getting up to the Bristlecone forest on White Mtn?

Thanks for any assistance and keep up the great work on this site.

Andrew
