While I saw nothing rude about any comments here I'd hope the OP has a thick skin. I respect the fact that you did the Butte Valley trip from east to west ending up in Panamint Valley. That's not an easy road. However most here er on the side of caution. If you can't take a bit of constructive criticism maybe DV isn't the right place to be venturing. You came here for information. You got some good information yet resort to name calling? One of the people on this slow/dead forum might be the one who helps you out if you do have issues while you're out there. It is summer time and most of the DV forums slow down during the hot season.

Yes I've seen the variety of vehicles out in Saline and it always makes me wonder what they are thinking. Oh well. Safe travels.

Miller provides a service and has for years. I am glad to know he is available if I need him. I do my best to not need him ... B)

Once I did need him, but not for a DV extraction. He towed a Mazda 6 I bought when I lived in Big Pine and was driving it to Ridgecrest to give to my daughter back in '99. The car tossed a timing belt at Manzanar. The car made it to Ridgecrest on the back of Miller's flatbed. Cost me a whole lot less than if he picked it up in Saline ... :S

LOL, John Miller takes a lot of flak for what he charges for recovery. But then who else can recovery any vehicle from anywhere? I'm sure you've heard plenty of stories about him and his operation. He really is a good guy.

Of course if one were to just leave their vehicle then the NPS would recover it. Imagine what that bill would run.

Whoa, now that is good.

Bumper stickers should be issued.

Maybe a banner or sign above Miller's Towing?

Well that's not very pleasant. My post was not directed towards you. I found another forum member's comment to be amusing and I replied. As the OP you don't have exclusive use of the thread. This is a community and we all have the right to speak civilly among ourselves.

You were given good directions and plenty of sage advise. Far better than you would get posting at some place like Pirate 4x4.

BTW this forum is not empty, it just has a new format. DV Talk has been around for quite a spell and has seen substantial traffic at times. I'd like to see it do well.

Maybe someday we'll run into each other at PSR. I'll buy you a beer and you can explain to me what a hillybob is.

Cheers
