ICSO has a history of not playing well with others. Especially individuals posted in and around the park. Mainly applies to interagency stuff.

Read the "Epilogue"; he explains it better than I can. I think it refers mainly to the Inyo Sheriff's office, not the Inyo SAR people. He stated near the end, summarily, "If I ever find myself in a dire situation in the backcountry of Inyo County and require rescue, I would crawl on bloody hands and knees over miles of jagged rock until I reached either the Kern or San Bernardino County lines."

what do you means about being Dorks? I have met quite a few and have had a good time talking with them. They have to deal with people getting in over their head in the area. example last month coming out os saline Valley by box car cabin we met two kids in early 20's . We stopped to ask if they needed help. they replied no we are hiking to Saline HS. i asked if they know what that involved no reply they kept walking. We wonder if they made it there was no vehicle parked and we think they got a ride to Darwin turn off.

I know, I've read that. To my knowledge, I've read everything there is on the subject. Too bad about that Inyo County sheriff's dept being such a bunch of dorks. In any case, I'm one of those people who likes to go to places that have a "story," no matter how remote, and some day I want to go to that bluff. I don't think BLM permits any vehicles there - if so, we'd have to walk from the entrance to Anvil Canyon to the bluff, which might be problematic. It's over 5 miles.
