Pretty sure. I suppose it could have been fragrant sumac or boxelder if those grow there, but it was all shiny and red.

Very interesting and informative, thanks for sharing this. One thing about your pictures, you have a picture of the workshop you said is full of poison oak. I have never seen poison oak growing anywhere east of the sierras and I have spent all of my adult life there. Somebody might have planted it one way or the other but I find that very curious. Are you sure it was poison oak?

Here's one from absolutely the opposite end of the state: Petroglyph Point at Lava Beds NM. Just did a long weekend in Owens Valley followed by driving 395 to Lava Beds and Crater Lake to Portland. Long drive, got to check out some cool stuff. I'll write proper reports as I get to them. Enjoy:
