Big Pine Road

Hi people i am planning another D.V. trip early april for a couple of weeks and am going to start in the north on big pine road. Never been on this road or even in that part of the park my question to whoever has driven it is.
1) what are the conditions of the road? well graded steep, snow at that time of the year? what is the scenery like i take a lot of pictures and like to explore remote places.
2) and are there good places along the way to camp for a couple of days. I am also going to stay in Eureka valley, never been there and wondering about camping there and if you could suggest any hikes as other than the dunes there. thank you
